چکیده

This paper presents a novel coupled formulation for fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problems involving free-surface fluid flows, fracture phenomena, solid mutual contact and large displacements. The numerical combines three different Lagrangian computational methods. Particle Finite Element Method (PFEM) is used to solve the flow, (FEM) with smoothed isotropic damage model employed solution of structures debris, finally, Discrete (DEM) manage between boundaries, including new ones generated by propagating cracks. proposed method has high potential prediction structural damages on civil constructions caused natural hazards, such as floods, tsunami waves or landslides. Its application field can also be extended phenomena in soils/rocks arising from explosions hydraulic fracking processes. Several examples are presented show validity accuracy technique proposed.

A Fully Eulerian formulation for fluid-structure-interaction problems

In this work, we present a Fully Eulerian framework for fluid-structure interaction (fsi) problems coupling the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations with a hyperelastic solid. The Fully Eulerian framework is a monolithic implicit variational formulation for the coupled problem. In contrast to the well-established Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) coordinates, the Fully Eulerian framework fo...

A monolithic fluid-structure interaction formulation for solid and liquid membranes including free-surface contact

A unified fluid-structure interaction (FSI) formulation is presented for solid, liquid and mixed membranes. Nonlinear finite elements (FE) and the generalized-α scheme are used for the spatial and temporal discretization. The membrane discretization is based on curvilinear surface elements that can describe large deformations and rotations, and also provide a straightforward description for con...

Presenting a Modified SPH Algorithm for Numerical Studies of Fluid-Structure Interaction Problems

A modified Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method is proposed for fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problems especially, in cases which FSI is combined with solid-rigid contacts. In current work, the modification of the utilized SPH concerns on removing the artificial viscosities and the artificial stresses (which such terms are commonly used to eliminate the effects of tensile and numeri...

Partitioned solution to fluid-structure interaction problem in application to free-surface flows

In this work we discuss a way to compute the impact of free-surface flow on nonlinear structures. The approach chosen rely on a partitioned strategy that allows to solve strongly coupled fluid-structure interaction problem. It is then possible to re-use existing and validated strategy for each sub-problem. The structure is formulated in a Lagrangian way and solved by the finite element method. ...
